3GPP
Long Term Evolution (”LTE”) trials jump start with a whopping speeds exceeding 100 Mbps!

The joint testing activities led by an impressive list: Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, France Telecom/Orange, Nokia, Nokia Siemens Networks, Nortel, T-Mobile and Vodafone. The long list of telecom giants indicate that Intel’s WiMAX gambit has taken seriously and LTE is the response.

As an insider, I see that the things are changing very fast on LTE side, huge investments are flowing in, 3G operators are hugely enthusiastic, since LTE designed to minimise the cost of upgrades for existing 3G networks.

It would be very interesting to watch next battle: WiMAX vs LTE. Stay Tuned!

Today I had some free time and went out to take pictures of T-Mobile Campus in Bonn. It is a strange building looks like a shape of space ship. The massive 123,000 m² campus has an impressive entrance hall itself covering 2,300 m² and houses Europe’s largest indoor LED wall. When compared, It dwarfs Googleplex by three times.
