GaffurWhile Mahir tries to find a way to sue Borat for capitalizing on his persona, a genuine internet/digital media star emerges as Mahir 2.0: Gaffur!!

Gaffur is yet another internet phenomen just about to explode worldwide. In reality he is a cult chacter played by Peker Acikalin in a TV-Series called Avrupa Yakasi (European Side) in Turkish TVs. He recently joined to the series about 2 months ago and immediatelly managed to start Gaffurmania craze. In a blink, his videos spread around internet and become one of most sought video clips.

Here is remix of Gaffur dancing on Kenan Dogulu’s hit song ‘Cakkidi’. Enjoy!

Ahmet ErtegunAs you already heard the news, Ahmet Ertegun, a Turkish immigrant, one of the modern music industry’s most influential figures who shaped the sound of music for the past 60 years, passed away last month. Ertegun co-founded Atlantic Records in 1947 and helped to popularize Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Cream, Ray Charles and many others.

Revolutionizing the record industry didn’t stop Ahmet, he also popularized soccer in U.S. by co-founding legendary New York Cosmos. Cosmos brought in some of most influential soccer players like Pele, Franz Beckenbauer and Carlos Alberto.

As a person making a living from Digital Media, I owe a great debt to  his larger-than-life persona for producing some of the greatest content currently reside in my ipod.

I found this interesting interview on Google Video and couldn’t resist sharing the story of 20th Century American Music History from the very own words from Ertegun himself.
